![]() ![]() Note: if no wheel sensor is connected the unit will add the straight line distance where the GPS signal is lost and regained instead. When the satellite signal is restored operation seamlessly switches back to GPS. ![]() Accurate measurements will continue uninterrupted.ģ. If the satellite signal is lost the GPS= software automatically switches operation to the wheel sensor. In the background the GPS+ software continuously calibrates the wheel sensor against the GPS measurements.Ģ. While a good satellite signal is available the rally computer operates from GPS alone, eliminating the need for time consuming calibration and the error caused by wheel spin. By combining the signals from a traditional wheel sensor and the GPS receiver, the GPS+ system is able to maintain high accuracy operation in all situations. To address this Monit has developed its unique GPS+ technology. For most competitors this will rarely be a issue, but for those who regularly operate in difficult environments and require the high accuracy this performance loss might be unacceptable. When travelling through dense forest, tunnels, or around tall buildings the GPS signal can be degraded reducing accuracy. However, like all GPS systems, there are some limitations. Combined with an external roof mounted antenna the high-quality receiver is able to deliver accurate distance and speed measurements almost anywhere on the planet. The GPS receiver inside the G-Series rally computer is much more sensitive than that found in a smart phone or sat-nav device. For competitors that demand the most from their equipment the G-200 is the ideal choice. The main advantages over the G-100 are the addition of a time-of-day clock, average speed, fuel management system and handy stage recorder. ![]() The top of the range G-200 model has all the features required for the highest level of competition. Designed for professional rally teams, the G-Series Monit rally computers have all the features required for serious rallying and with it's built in GPS receiver, installation has never been easier or more hassle free. The cost of the on-board electronics for a magnetic detection system is approximately $10 per vehicle with roadway detection costs for magnets of under $10 per installation. Current estimates indicate that the use of the speed monitoring device may save approximately 10,000 lives and 500,000 injury accidents per year. It can also be used to issue tickets to the vehicle registration if warnings remain unheeded. The calculated travel time or speed can then be compared with the current vehicle speed or with a constant time to warn the driver of hazardous approaching events (excessive speeds approaching construction or maintenance work sites, sharp curves, railroad crossings, or school zones). The concept relies on the speed-distance-time relationship and an on-board impulse detector and constant timer to calculate the travel time or posted speed of the roadway. A new, simple and inexpensive intelligent vehicle highway system speed monitoring concept that can be easily adapted to existing vehicles and roadways is presented. ![]() However, recent experience has indicated that long-term exposure to the radar emissions may pose a hazard for the law enforcement community. Monitoring of safe speeds has been commonly performed by radar enforcement. In the development of a safer highway driving environment, unsafe speeds have been found to be a cause of approximately one-third or more of all accidents.
